So sorry you are going through this. This is why it's a cult. These people are brainwashed....as we were once.
Thank goodness, we have the support of each other on this forum

The elders came last night and i stood my NEW ground!!! be proud!
by New light for you inso yes, the brothers came for "encouragement" and of course, my husband is out of town on business... so it was me and the kids.. so i did let them in, i like these brothers...these are some things we discussed.... 1. i went over how that stupid "obey" email got all this started, got me to divulge to my girlfriend how i was feeling about the whole religion.
about how at the end of the call she said that she can't associate with me anymore, and then right after that call/ 30seconds later while i'm crying a pioneer called and asked "do you consider yourself one of jeh witnesses anymore??
" and i thought that was crazy for someone to try to trap me when i was sitting crying on the phone, upset with the last call... i told them that for all purposes i am already dfed since noone will talk to me anymore, and only one friend called to see what happened, everyone else just listened to the gossip of whatever spread, and wrote me off even though i'm technically in good standing.

My story
by Newborn indear all, thank you for your warm welcome!
this is my story in short (pls excuse wrong spellings, english is not my native tongue and that it still became quite long).. i'm 34 and was born into the truth by parents who in their turn were baptist in young age.
i have one older sister who is currently serving at bethel with her husband and a younger brother who never embraced the truth (which was my big sorrow for many years).

So glad you're getting out of this 'hogwash'. You can now live the real life.

Last night I went out to dinner with work colleagues, I found them friendly, accepting and a lot of fun. They were very polite. One teacher was off to Malaysia to teach. The head had just done a charity cycle. All spoke with a lot of integrity about their students.
I have been to dinner with some JWs and found them very haughty, complaining or very patronising to the restaurant staff. Looking down on the 'worldly' waiters/waitresses.
Also they mainly quoted scriptures at you, moaned that they had their watchtower/hours to do or complained about brothers/sisters/elders. I also found them false and overbearing at times. Sometimes they would become very loud and raucous. Some would turn up and then say they've already eaten at home, so only ordered desert. It was so embarrassing. Then there would be a fuss about the bill.
My husband, who is a musician said they would embarrass him when they came to his gigs. He wondered why they couldn't just act normally.
Answer...They are not normal.

Thanks for all your responses
[email protected] did mention to the elder that called that I don't consider myself a JW anymore, as I disagree with them. I thought he would note this down. I also asked him to just let us leave quietly without need of an announcement.
This is the letter my husband wants to send.
Thank you for your letter of 13th July re- ‘confusion for the brothers and sisters.’.
I have to say that I have not experienced any problems in my conversations with brothers and sisters since leaving ******* Congregation. Most people know we have left and if anyone enquires as to why, my response is that we have both left, but I don’t wish to talk about it, thus enabling the conversation to move on to more mundane matters.
Both ***** and I have continued to be friendly to those that we meet from time to time, and have no ill-feeling towards anyone in the congregation.
I would have thought that an announcement to the congregation of the nature suggested in your letter would actually make it more difficult for those that wish to talk to us, as we would then be viewed in similar light to someone that was disfellowshipped. I know that this is a common practice within the Organization, but it strikes me more as being a way of discrediting those that wish to leave.
If anyone in the congregation is confused, I would have thought that the continual shifting sands of ‘past’ and ‘present’truth would be enough to cause that, without us doing anything. In taking the name Jehovah as it’s title, the Organisation has a heavy responsibility to get things right, otherwise they actually bring that name into disrepute. Personally I have too much respect for God to continue peddling ‘duff’ information to innocent people.
Yours
P.S
If you do decide to make an announcement, I would be grateful if you would show us the courtesy of informing us before hand, for the sake of those members of my family who are still attending the meetings.
Thank you. -

My husband and I just received this letter from our old congregation. We refused a recent request for a visit.....
Dear **** and ******
I was sorry that it was not possible to follow up **** (elder)call with a visit, although I can understand that at present it would seem unnecessary and of little purpose to you.
It has been a disappointment to me that you no longer consider yourselves part of the congregation and one of Jehovah's Witnesses. This has led to some confusion for your brothers and sisters when they meet up with you, or if they inquire from others about your welfare.
It must be difficult for you both as well, but I think it would be best for the congregation to hear a brief announcement, saying that you do not wish to be viewed as associating with Jehovah's Witnesses.
Should I be mistaken in any way, do please let me know. We at ******* would dearly love to have you both share fellowship with us again in our worship of Jehovah.
Anticipating your reply
Your brother
**** *******
So the shunning will be complete soon.
I've stopped caring, but my husband wants to answer this letter, exposing their excuse for a complete shunning of us.
Is there any point?

Hi everyone! im also a newbie here.
by dhand inhi everyone, thought it was time to say hi after nearly a year lurking on this site!!
abit about me... i was born into the jw's and have been baptised for about 15yrs and was appointed as an ms about a year ago.
i have been a die hard jw for the last few years, but because of the arrogant and unloving attitude of certain 'spirit appointed' men within the cong and circuit i began to wounder if what i had really was 'the truth' and caused me to do some digging on some of the fundamental teachings.
